Chronoi Fellow Awarded FWF Astra Grant

We are delighted to congratulate our former fellow, András Kraft, on receiving the highly competitive FWF Astra Award for his new project, Apocalypse Rescripted: Unraveling the Maze of Byzantine Apocalyptic Literature.

During his fellowship at Chronoi, Kraft examined the dynamics of eschatological time in Medieval Greek apocalyptic literature. His new FWF project will be the first to provide a comprehensive and holistic assessment of Byzantine apocalyptic texts from ca. 500 to 1500 CE. Drawing on Greek, Armenian, and Slavonic manuscript variants, Kraft and his team will take a transregional, multidisciplinary approach supported by digital tools to examine a corpus of 40 texts.
