Many ancient Greek philosophers thought there are atemporal, unchangeable objects. But to talk about such atemporal objects and to explain them inevitably involves putting them into the temporal context of communication. This talk will look at some of the ways in which Greek philosophical writers did so, thereby highlighting the discursive and narrative dimensions of ancient philosophical texts.
