Prof. Dr. Daniel T. Potts

Biography

Prof. D.T. Potts is Professor of Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology and History at the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, New York University. He studied at Harvard and the Freie Universität Berlin, and previously held teaching positions at the Freie Universität, the University of Copenhagen, and the University of Sydney. His work ranges widely from prehistory to the pre-modern era with a focus on Iran. He has excavated at numerous sites in Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and has recently begun a collaborative project with Prof. Dr. Karen Radner (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität), investigating the multi-period site of Gird-i Rostam in Iraqi Kurdistan. He has published on Mesopotamian, Iranian, Central Asian and Arabian archaeology and history.
